DIGESTIVE BISCUIT BY: COUNTRY TOWN OUT OF : CRACKERS JOCKEY: GRAHAM FORBES HANDICAP: 23 C/SHIP POINTS 0 WIN/PLACE: 0 / 0 |
A
newcomer to the field with very few runs on the board. Has
nominated for events since joining but a few have resulted in
scratching due to commitments back in the stable. Hopefully next
season will prove to be more productive. The lack of form to go on would make this one a real punt. |

DAVID HOWARD HANDICAP: 17 C/SHIP POINTS 0 WIN/PLACE: 0 / 0 |
Given
the pedigree of this horse, by the time the event comes off he could
have been replaced though some would suggest that he is irreplaceable.
Very little evidence of form but has been known to surprise. If he doesn’t scratch, he has a chance. |

NORTHERN GENERAL BY: GENERAL GRANT OUT OF: MISS OHIO JOCKEY: ROD
GRANT HANDICAP: 20 C/SHIP POINTS: 0 WIN/PLACE 0 / 0 |
A
series of shoulder and fetlock problems has kept this old stager locked
away in the stable. Some tentative returns to training have
showed promise but later in the season seems more likely. An
unlikely chance. |

DENNIS THE MENACE BY: DAVID LAW OUT OF: GLORIA HENRY JOCKEY: DENNIS
TIERNAN HANDICAP: 16 C/SHIP POINTS 2 WIN/PLACE 0 / 1 |
A brief
return from the Dark Side showed some promise for this Stormtrooper.
However the lure of the dark arts seems to have
been too great or maybe the MMA held greater appeal. The
connections have been quiet and it is hard to see value here. |

DARK HORSE BY: MORNING SHADE OUT OF: SUNRISE JOCKEY: KEN
GRIST HANDICAP: 18 C/SHIP POINTS: 3 WIN/PLACE: 0 / 1 |
Totally
committed elsewhere and only appears on this track on rare occasions so
unlikely to start. If he
fronts he’ll have a chance but if he doesn’t he won’t. |

BUSH RANGER BY: YOUNG NED OUT OF: THE CLINK JOCKEY: STEPHEN
KELLY HANDICAP: 10 C/SHIP POINTS: 8 WIN/PLACE: 1 / 0 |
Only a
couple of runs on the board so far but has showed he has the potential
to run and to win. Whether he has the staying power necessary
for this distance remains to be seen. A bit of a stab in the
dark on this one. A
gambling man would be prepared to have a go at this one. |

LATIN LOVER BY: EVIL WINK OUT OF: BALMY NIGHTS JOCKEY: KEITH
DEL ZOPPO HANDICAP: 19 C/SHIP POINTS 10 WIN/PLACE 0 / 4 |
Hasn't
made many appearances this season but even so has managed a
respectable number of placings. If this old dog learns some
new tricks then the outcome will be anybody's guess. On the
form available this is hard to recommend but could very easily surprise |

THE LODGER |
Rarely
shows at this track these days but has shown form in the past.
Probably has as many runs in this event as any
other in the
field but might have forgotten how to manage the course. He
might
be a veteran but don't write him off just yet. If
you're not in it, you can't win it. |

After
more retirements than Dame Nellie, this old stager claims to be ready
to return to the track, but not just yet. No form to speak of
and not in the running in any case Don't
hold your breath. |

despite some handicaps other than the official ones. An
unlikely starter. |

LICENSE 2 KILL . BY: BOND OUT OF: PUSSY GALORE JOCKEY: MALCOLM
FLEMING HANDICAP: 24 C/SHIP POINTS: 14 WIN/PLACE: 0 / 6 |
The
oldest horse in the field and prefers to stay in the stable with his
blanket on during the winter months. Has been interstate
recently and away from the training track though a few runs
away a while back showed that he can still hack it and last
the distance Probably
a long shot and better value elsewhere. |

DANISH PASTRY BY: SWEET THING OUT OF: BUN IN THE OVEN JOCKEY: MARK
BERETHELSEN HANDICAP: 21 C/SHIP POINTS 16 WIN/PLACE 1 / 3 |
One of
the new horses in the field, this will be a maiden event for this
runner. Ran a place
in one of his first runs around the course so looks as if he can handle
the weight but whether he can step up in this field is a moot point. Probably
better value elsewhere. |

BOUNCER BY: HARD ONE OUT OF: THE PITCH JOCKEY: ROD
WHITE HANDICAP: 15 C/SHIP POINTS: 20 WIN/PLACE:2 / 2 |
Comes
and goes in fits and starts and this season has seen relatively few
starts. The summer season turns his mind to other pursuits
and form and racing suffers quite severely. Unlikely
starter but if he did he could surprise. |

MARS BAR BY: TURKISH DELIGHT OUT OF: SWEET TOOTH JOCKEY: TREVOR
JACKSON HANDICAP: 24 C/SHIP POINTS: 20 WIN/PLACE: 1 / 4 |
Regular
spelling through the season has paid dividends with some winning
performances in recent times. Shows plenty of enthusiasm for
this event and is sure to show. Could even show the field a
clean pair of heels if the hills don't take too much out of him. The
staying power is a worry but if he takes the cart – who knows. |

LITTLE DAG |
Involvement
in another form of racing has kept this young colt away from the track
and the form has been scratchy as a result. However, past
performance has showed great potential and on his day he is more than
capable of taking out the field and presenting to the judges. If he
makes the barrier this would be well worth an investment. |

Bus-loads
of talent and a new set of harness could be the things that set this
stallion out from the field.
Does like his oats and changes coaches on a regular basis but
this shouldn't detract from the calculations if he does make it to the
starting line. Probably
worth a place bet given the irregular showings thus far. |

OPEN STANCE BY:
TARZAN'S GRIP OUT OF: BASEBALL JOCKEY: TANER
KEMAL HANDICAP: 27 C/SHIP POINTS: 25 WIN/PLACE: 1 / 8 |
This
frisky import from Turkey gives the appearance of being an explorer
having been spotted in parts of the course not usually seen in the
normal course of a race. However, lately, he has shown better
control and the efforts have paid dividends. Not too many runs on the
board as a stayer and questions remain about his potential value. Could
easily surprise but don't pay too much. |

THE ADMAN BY: COMMERCIAL OUT OF: MAJOR EVENT JOCKEY: SIMON
POWELL HANDICAP: 18 C/SHIP POINTS: 26 WIN/PLACE: 2 / 2 |
This
runner is beginning to find his feet around the course and he is known
to get excited by birdies, especially ducks. Some new tack
has had the desired effect and the connections hold out great hopes for
the coming season. Definitely a smoker. This
could be the catch of the day for those with the dough. |

THE GENERAL BY : LINCOLNS NEMESIS OUT OF: GREY COAT JOCKEY: DAMIEN
LEE HANDICAP: 7 C/SHIP POINTS: 27 WIN/PLACE: 0 / 7 |
Stable
duties and unexpected scheduling problems have severely interfered with
both the training and running of this colt. Without changes
to the calendar, the situation is unlikely to improve in the short term
and the field will be the poorer as a result Has a
lot to recommend but unlikely to front.. |

WAITING

Frozen
shoulder has severely cramped this horse's style after a couple of wins
early in the year. Intensive therapy is beginning to pay
dividends but lack of training is likely to weigh heavily if he does
front the starter. Unlikely
but could surprise. |

WESTERN UNION BY: NORTHERN LIGHTS OUT OF: SOUTHERN AURORA JOCKEY: BILL
EASTOE HANDICAP: 9 C/SHIP POINTS: 34 WIN/PLACE: 1 / 11 |
This
stallion really likes to get into the swing of things and when on song
can run a country mile. Can sometimes run a bit wide but has
the uncanny knack of getting back on course with the next stride.
A short break in the agistment paddock certainly hasn't done
him any harm and he has gathered a few placings in recent outings. Definitely
on the verge of striking form and should be the one to beat.
Back him to the hilt. |

Another
first full season horse but the training was interrupted to place his
brand on a filly of his fancy. Notwithstanding those
distractions
he has accumulated a good scattering of placings but only one win. The
smart punter will pay a fair price for a piece of this action. |

Track
work and racing has been interrupted this year by committments back in
the stable. Has been relieved of duties as a draft horse
with Armaguard and appears much more relaxed as a result
which could very well show up as improved performance on the track.
Has been well represented on the podium in the relatively
few appearances this year. Your
bank manager is much more likely to spring you a loan on this one. |

ARMPITS BY:
MCENROE'S CHOICE JOCKEY: BOB MACDONALD HANDICAP: 23 C/SHIP POINTS: 38 WIN/PLACE: 1 /

This
veteran has been a bit quieter of late and this seems to have shown up
in recent performances. Managed to lead the field at the half
way point in a recent distance event but faded a bit on the home
straight. Seems to be well weighted and if the staying power
can be boosted could easily scoop the pool. Should
be good value for money. |

QUINLAN HANDICAP: 16 C/SHIP POINTS: 40 WIN/PLACE: 3 / 6 |
Here we
have what might be called the high flier from the field. Has spent so
much time in London that he almost has a Pommy accent and for a horse,
that is saying something. Running in the middle of the field
through the season but certainly has the potential to star if he isn't
jet-lagged. A pound
or two would not go astray on this one.. |

STAGEHAND BY: ARENA OUT OF: MAIN
EVENT JOCKEY: ED KLOPROGGE HANDICAP: 10 C/SHIP POINTS: 41 WIN/PLACE: 3 / 6 |
Form this season has been variable, often for no apparent reason. Has recently moved to other training grounds and form will be hard to judge as a result. has form in this event so, if he does run, watch out. You'd
hate yourself if he runs and you miss out.. |

THE HUSTLER BY:
TIENMIN OUT
OF: STUFFU JOCKEY:
ROBERT PRIEMS HANDICAP:
17 CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS: 43 WIN/PLACE: 4 /3 |
This
horse lays claims to be the real deal and for relatively few
appearances has some runs on the board. Irregular appearances
make the form hard to judge but can run a mile on his day. If he plays his cards right he could
easily come up trumps. The
astute punter won't want to miss out on a chance with this one. |

Many a
tall story has been told about this gun runner.
Has felt hard done by the handicapper but has recently
become
more comfortable with his rating and is carrying the weight better to
lead the field and to be well placed at the end of the run. Bound
to be short priced if not the favourite. |

BAGPIPE CHANTER BY: ROCKY PEAK OUT OF: HIGHLAND HOME JOCKEY: CRAIG
CAMERON HANDICAP: 11 C/SHIP POINTS 49 WIN/PLACE 2 / 14 |
With
his first full season behind him this horse has managed a couple of
wins and a swag of lower than runner-up. This could mean that
he is averse to being first loser or that he tires quickly
and falls back through the field. Despite this he is well up
in his class. Definitely
worth and each way or a place in a box. |

A TOUCH OF BLARNEY BY :IRISH EYES OUT OF :SWEET COLLEEN JOCKEY: STEPHEN
O'SULLIVAN HANDICAP: 10 C/SHIP POINTS: 49 WIN/PLACE: 3 / 10 |
High
speed training on the Highway could stand this young horse in good
stead though a continuing lack of sleep has interfered with both
performance and attendance at the track. Seems pretty relaxed
about taking over duties as draft horse with Armaguard The
calendar has been cleared so he means business and only the foolish
would miss out. |

IF I CAN OUT OF: MAYBE I WILL JOCKEY: ANDREW
PETRICOLA HANDICAP: 3 C/SHIP POINTS: 49 WIN/PLACE: 3 / 9 |
Last
season's sojourn in the sinny city certainly put this young stallion in
fine fettle and his return to the home stable has resulted in the
addition of a fine young filly. Stable duties have kept him
off
the track a bit of late and recent track work has not impressed.
As always with champions, they can perform on the day. Could
easily be the bargain of the day. |

Always
picks his line before starting a run and has shown that he can follow
the chosen line to good effect. Occasional deviations can
have a devastating effect producing results well below expectations. A rough

This
runner has been up and about this year and has featured prominently in
a number of events. Seems to have settled
a bit compared to earlier performances but was recently red carded for
a rules infringement. Has been chastised for running
interference
on horses ahead of him. Form is
good and on his day could very well repay handsomely. |

Some
new harness and the hiring of a new trainer has the potential to put a
new spring in the step of this course veteran. This
event
might be a bit soon for the new regime to have the expected benefits
but a few recent sprints suggest that if a bit of stamina develops the
sky is the limit. Well placed in his class. A
chance that would be worth a quid or two. |

This is
a horse that has the power to fade on most parts of the course but if
that power fails him it can lead right into trouble. Has a
definite attraction to greenery but more often than not he benefits
from the experience. The connections have been contemplating
some new tack in recent times but this is unlikely to be in place for
this event so the punters will have to watch out for the curve
ball
and hedge their bets. A
reliable performer that has the experience to prevail and should
attract a lot of support. |

A
flighty but reliable performer that doesn't quite make it to the
finishing line in front but he is often there or thereabouts.
Still tends to be easily distracted by fillies in the
mounting yard and has played up when the running hasn't gone his way.
Plenty of potential if the impulses can be kept in harness. Definitely
worth a flutter and if past performance is any guide could easily be
placed or better. |

ODDS ON BY: THE PUNTER OUT OF: TWO FLIES JOCKEY: GORDON
HILL HANDICAP: 10 C/SHIP POINTS: 72 WIN/PLACE: 3 / 16 |
This
horse will have to 'fes up as to whether it suffers from feet of clay
or whether it really did hold back to give the young colts a chance.
Good manners and soft hearts have no place in the cut and
thrust of this event and he will have to steel himself or be overcome
by remorse (as well as by the rest of the field). Hopefully
will go like a house on fire and burn up the course. So, get
on him while he is hot. |

It's
not pretty but ewe can't get away from it, this horse has made a great
bridesmaid having travelled through the season without a single win to
his name. Like the toss of a coin, 26 heads in a row doesn't
mean that the next one will be a head (or even a tail for that matter)
and even the Bureau of Meteorology have difficulty predicting when the
drought will break. It
will be a dry old argument if you don't get your money on here. |

Another
runner with a first full season and what a season it has been.
The handicapper has had to pack his saddle-bags several times
through the season and there have been suggestions that the strain is
beginning to show. A recent rest will have done him no harm
and
is likely to be a force to be contended with. The
smart punter will save his money for this one.. |
