Match Committee
Composition
The Match Committee comprises the Club Captain, the Club President and the Club Handicapper. The Club Captain is
the chair of the Match Committee
Objectives
The Match Committee's main objective is to oversee the running of the day-to-day golf activities for the Members.
This includes the running of the weekly Club competitions and Major Events, to ensure that all Members have the
opportunity to enjoy their golf.
Responsibilities
The Match Committee is responsible for the control and management of all aspects of the playing of golf on the
Ivanhoe Public Golf course. The Match Committee shall:-

Prepare the annual syllabus of golfing events. Circulate the programme of golfing events via the Club's website.
Re-schedule or cancel weekly golfing events or major events where circumstances require such decisions to be
made;

Determine and circulate in advance the format and rules of Club competitions and major events. Deal with and
resolve any issues relating to matches and competitions,including event qualification and exemptions. Ensure a
good working knowledge of the Club's Rules and have access to current Local Rules, the Rules of Golf and
Decisions on the Rules of Golf, in order to be able to give decisions promptly and correctly;

Act as the Club's handicap authority to set all Member's handicaps and to review all matters concerning member's
handicaps. Allocate handicaps to new Members in accordance with the Club's handicapping system;

Ensure that a Committee representative [ or nominee ] is available at all times during a competition to make
decisions and suspend or cancel play if required;

Educate Members, as necessary, in the proper playing of the game and manage course etiquette;

Establish Pace of Play policies and guidelines and distribute to all members. Review and monitor play on the
course, and update members, as required, where issues have been identified in respect of the Pace of Play.
