Well sometimes as handicapper I feel vindicated as today John Quinlan proved how well the system rates players by beating his 18 handicap and playing to 12 to jointly win with the other star of the day Targe Mifsud. Well done to both of you.
Its interesting to note that this week was the highest number of players getting championship points since we introduced the system last year.
One match was played in the Matchplay Championship today – Malcolm Adey defeated Trevor Jackson 4&3.
CLUB FEES MUST BE PAID BY NEXT SATURDAY!!!
The mysterious buggy left on the 8th tee strangely had ‘Made in America’ and ‘Chicago’ labels .. could it be our intrepid Olivers?
Ben Akdag is going to attempt to put a video on the site of a very funny tee incident…we’ve never done it before so it might take a few days but look out for it soon.

New Handicaps
Just to clarify the handicapping for new or returning players we take the first three cards submitted. Each score on every hole is adjusted to a maximum of a double bogey, for example, if a 7 is scored on a par 4 then the result is adjusted to 6 – a double bogey. The adjusted scores are totalled for each card. The grand total is divided by 3 and the par for Ivanhoe (68) is deducted to arrive at the new handicap.
Cheers
Allan

Stableford event today and we had 3 winners shooting 43pts. Joe Demir, Mal Whelan and Jan Siemon saluted; all three will face a big drop in handicap. Jan shot an even with the card 35 on the front nine which produced 27 of his 43 pts, Joe continued his run of form and Mal took advantage of the dry conditions unleashing some monster drives. Well done lads.
Second place went to Tony Mifsud with 40 pts. Tony played very solid golf; his upcoming matchplay game with John Quinlan will be one to watch. Both players exchanged ‘Pleasantries’ during Saturdays round so there will be plenty more exchanged this week.
We had two 3rd place getters this week. Oliver Gross and Damien Lee both shot 38pts. Good to see these guys get back to form. Damo used his new irons on the weekend and this maybe the spark that gets him back to a single figure handicap.
We had 3 Matchplay games played today:
Oliver Gross vs Rod Grant – Oliver won 2/1
Ben Akdag vs Targe Mifsud – Ben won 1up
Jan Siemon vs Mehmet Akdag – Jan won 8/7
It would be fair to say that Mehmet got his pants pulled down today (Sorry Dags but it has to be said), not easy when your opponent pars the front nine though.
No one got close on the 15th today therefore we have a jackpot this week.
Please note that club fees are due by 28th February. Members are not eligible for club championship points and trophies if you are not financial after this date. Fees are payable to Chris Priems or Gordon Hill.
Our tee time has moved to 7.45am. Tee Marshall this week is Andrew Petricola.
As a club we need to be mindful of our surroundings after the round. On Saturday there was some colourful language being used and at volume. We need to recognise that there are woman and young kids around and that language like that reflects badly on us as a club. Our post round wrap up is a great part of this club and doesn’t need to be sanitised, please just be mindful of others nearby.
Finally, thanks to everyone who contributed to the bush fire collection. The club raised $400 to go to The Salvo’s. Well done lads.

Very testing conditions out on the track on Saturday however that didn’t stop Gordon Hill from tearing the course apart with a Nett 63 to claim the February Medal. Hilly’s fine round also included an eagle on the 14th so he collected the eagles nest – 3 balls.
Continuing his run of good form was Joe who along with SOS came second with Nett 67’s, Bob and Damo both had Nett 68’s and took out 3rd place.
Kazim took out the pro pin finishing 105cm from the stick on the 18th.
The matchplay draw was conducted after Saturdays round and will be posted on the website this week. The 1st round of matchplay needs to be completed by the 02/05/2009; competitors should be arranging your 1st round match to be completed prior to this date. This year’s matchplay see’s 32 starters for the 1st time, 1st round matches to watch will be:
Priems vs Grist
Lee vs Hill
Akdag M vs Siemon
Akdag K vs Sharp.
