Results for Fred Howe Winter Cup 2009 – 25th July 2009
A really exciting finish to this years Fred Howe Winter Cup. Going into the final round it looked like Andrew Petricola was a dead cert with his 40 points in round 1. Alas the field caught up with him and Ken Grist, Craig Sharp and Bob McDonald were all well placed to win. It was Ken’s final round (the best of the day) that secured the countback and his victory. The Dark Horse strikes again!! Well done Ken Grist our Winter Cup champion and commiserations to the bridesmaids who at least have their championship points as consolation.
A special thanks to our catering officer, Oliver Gross, who did a spectacular job orchestrating the best bbq we’ve ever had with exotic meats, continental breads and fancy condiments. Thanks Oliver! You’ve got the job!

Results for 18th July 2009
The first round of the Fred Howe Winter Cup lived up to it’s seasonal flavour with a bitterly cold morning and a wide range of scores.
The leader in the club house is Andrew Petricola with an excellent 40 points, 3 clear of Bob McDonald on 37 and 4 clear of Jan Sieman and Craig Sharp.
Don’t forget the gourmet sausage sizzle at the BBQ after the final round ..
Good luck to everyone in the final round.
Results for 11th July 2009
A really wild, woolly and cold day that has set the scene for the start of the Fred Howe Winter Cup next week. Leading the charge into the cup is today’s winner and grinner Damien Lee with an excellent 76 and the only player to play to his handicap on the difficult conditions.

The Fred Howe Winter Cup
The Fred Howe Winter Cup is dedicated to one of our true founding members who unfortunately can no longer play but is still with us in spirit and hopefully will be able to present the trophy to the winner on 25th July at the barbecue.
Fred was President for many years and I found one of his Xmas speeches which is interesting reading. (If you want to save the speech right click on the images and Save Image).

Results for 4th July – Monthly Medal
I played with our monthly medal winner today, Johnny Quinlan, who hit some excellent tee shots and had a well deserved win with a net 65. I’m so glad he was able to shoot such a good score whilst playing with the handicapper 🙂
Close on John’s heels were the Akdag crew of Musti and Mehmet who decided to take over from Kazim and Ben.
A new method of getting a haircut was developed today by our intrepid Neil Argall who demonstrated to his partners how to hit a ball at a tree (yes deliberately!!) and to have the ball return and knock one’s cap off whilst parting the hair at the same time .. “Well done Neil very impressive” said Brett Ogle who had his own adaptation of the same shot that was used for adjusting kneecaps!
